Poems for a Lost Soul

I love to travel

Plane, boat, car, as long as I’m going somewhere, I’m happy

But... why do I love to travel?

It is the experience of seeing new sights

Of hearing new sounds

The diversity of cultures and customs

Each place I visit, is a story meant just for me

to unravel and savor

Maybe I love the exhilarating feeling

the semblance that I can take flight

In the air I leave my problems behind

My worries drowned in the sensations of freedom and peace

For a brief moment I am in a fantasy world

both beautiful and frightening in its imperfect wonders

Maybe it’s that I feel a connection to nowhere

A connection to everywhere

Can one truly visit a place and not not leave a piece of their soul behind?

That childlike wonder of exploring something new, something unknown

That… that is what I search for

That is why I travel

For meaning,

in a world of lost things
