Poe's Lifted Shadow

My thoughts

Once a haven filled with magic

A world that soared and never tragic

A muffled lark

No more flights and lights that entertain

But rather, webs and dirt and stained

You have brought this end to me

You have brought my end to me

And for that I am thankful.

A dreamer that dreams only nightmares

Is now relieved of their spell

For I have nothing more to tell

The light and life of his eyes

Brought smiles and guiles all worth the while

But he did not observe the beauty

That was ever present in his presence

And now a farce is to be made

Of the poor beauty that did fade

Into forgotten lore.

Short, whispers, nothing more.

Please tear and tear

You will not wear

The resolve that I do call

My calling.
