Poet

Your words

once so beautiful,

so entracing,

have now been stripped down

left raw and painful to read.

The crimson cheek smiles

have faded,

and are replaced

with pale eyed grimances.

When did the artistry

fall away from your lips?

The ones I once

hung onto for just one more;

One more sweet phrase

that brought me to my knees.

Bittersweet your words

have become.

And now,

so has my heart for you.

Missing the poet

I knew long ago.
