The Poet Inside of Me

Walking, waiting, watching

As the nightingale whispers away

Sitting, staring, fearing

As my hopes run astray

Fear runs through the heart

As the poet sees her sorrow

Anxiety divides two worlds apart

As the future holds every tomorrow

Words fly off the page

As the joy escalates

The writer takes the stage

As a piece of her soul, she dedicates

The poet inside finds the courage to scream,

"This is truly my dream."
