The Poet, the Politician
To speak from the heart,
or from the heart through the brain,
this is a difference we can't avoid.
To have the heart which will speak clearly,
rather than the heart that can not,
the one that confuses and convolutes,
makes the simple strange.
You, with your words,
strong despite any doubt,
seem so foreign to me,
the one who needs the concrete,
to have this definite structure.
Rationalization of the irrational,
a thought about the unfathomable,
what you should know I must ponder.
The gestures you put to the air in speech,
are just the same as my pen to paper,
and thus I must say that we share the same thought.
My mind when it draws this blank you say it should
will not allow words to show as yours does.
What must be stressed is that the same thought is shared,
but our manner to voice it sets us apart.
