Poetic Relief
Today a friend told me to leave him alone and have a nice life
Truth be told, it hurts. His words cut like a knife.
The crushing blow of his words have brought my hurt to higher heights
I know the feelings as I have had some really dark nights.
I just want to help and maybe shed some light.
He wants me to go away, and for me that's not okay
He helped me get sober; I can't let him fade away.
I want to be a good friend, give him a shoulder to lean on
That's what friends do, but it's like my life just got pee'd on
It's hard to understand exactly what the hell is going on
Little do I know that he has been fighting demons all along
Alcohol is poison, but he is so nonchalant
How can I help if leaving him alone is what he wants?
Is he too far gone? Should I sound the alarm?
What do I do if he does any self harm?
He is so good at lying, damn him with his blue eyes and charm
I didn't see this coming. Where did I go wrong?
This is all on him, I know
But to see a good friend struggle is a hard pill to swallow
I care too much; I don't want to sit back and wallow
I feel so helpless; I feel so hollow
God send him an angel so he can get through all his sorrows
And give him a chance for a better tomorrow.
