Poetry

"Poetry,"

he said,

" is so over-rated."

"So many thing are,"

I thought.

Simply because people

hold them above the things

that are more valuable,

 and more under-rated.

Many things are over-rated,

but poetry isn't one of them.

Those that deem poetry over-rated

are the ones that

think they understand it,

but never will.

Those that appreciate poetry

try to feel it,

but know they will never

be able to fully understand it.

Poetry is an expression of the soul,

and my soul cannot be defined

in stanzas and rhymes,

but in memories.
