Poetry

Poetry does not have to be nice.
It does not have to be smooth,
Like MSG’s ice.

Slamming this in my head,
Aching uncomfortably on my bed,

Getting writer’s cramp in my palm,
Thinking this shit is the bomb,

You think this is rap but as
Admiral Ackbar says,
“It’s a trap!”

Because now you can’t stop,
As my thoughts spit out,
Like a good beer on tap!

In the background noise,
It’s DJ Khaled,
And you say to your bartender,

Another one!
And another line comes,
Because this is poetry.

It does not have to be nice,
It certainly must entice,
It does not have to be smooth,

Like MSG’s ice.
