Poetry Is

Poetry is a song

A quiet melody in the throng

A low note in the noise that makes us strong.

Poetry is a beat

A steady cadence in the fleet

A common surge in the heart that makes us meet.

Poetry is bold

The bravery that moved kings of old

The sound that rises up, never to be bowled.

Poetry is a life

A hand to hold in the strife

An expression used like their very own fife.
