Stories teach us empathy

This I have always known

It is a fact

But there is something special about a poem

There is something in its rhythm

In its substance

In its life

That allows us something other stories cannot

Poetry, more than anything else

Is emotion

Is feeling

Is expressing the very essence of our being

And we need that

We need to be able to listen to the way others express life

Express joy

Express pain

Need to be able to listen to everything

So we can be compassionate

Be Kind

Be gentle

Be human

There is something special about a poem
