Poetry
Many can say that Poetry is a simple concept
However, they probably don’t understand that it’s difficult
to create a piece of literature with technique, symbolism, and depth
that can be both deciphered and understood by its audience
There are many genres and rhythms of Poem,
including haikus, sonnets, ballads, and epics…
It’s hard to pick favorites; there are so much to choose from
(But I think that my go-to has always been free verse)
There is much more to Poetry than its technical part
Words have power that cannot be surmounted
They can be molded and shaped into different works of Art,
and each has a story to tell (most of the time in a roundabout way)
These stories, that even a few stanzas can generate,
are what have opened my eyes to symbolic context
Through this, my Imagination can comprehend and delegate
the story’s message as something of an “other-worldly experience”
Poetry has given me heightened awareness,
not only of the expanse of my own mind, but also
of the simple yet intricate beauty that Creation can posses
Nature, Knowledge, Emotion, Experience; all of it
It’s incredible to have those doors opened to you
Suddenly the World seems like a much bigger place,
and you can see things from many perspectives rather than a few
If necessary, maybe I could sum Poetry up into one word:
Enlightenment.
