Poetry a Get Away

What has poetry taught me?

What has poetry given me? 

It taught me its ok to express yourself,

Its ok to have feelings,

IT'S OK TO BE YOURSELF. 

The gift of poetry has given me a place,

a place to get away,

get away from the struggle, the heartbreaks of life.

My emotions are allowed to run free on the paper 

rather than be trapped in the confines of my head.

So I thank you poetry for giving me a safe place.
