Poetry and Me
From loving heart
To empty soul
With healthy mind
But empty bowl
And struggles faced
Both big and small
My heart still raced
Even after all
The torment that I
Had to endure
A deep, heavy sigh
The only cure
For all the pain
And weakness in
My life of strain
That's full of sin
Is poetry
The only thing
That allows me
To keep fighting
The one reward
In life alone
Words string a chord
Down to the bone
It can be heard
These words of truth
By folks and birds
By old and youth
These words connect
With those who hear
Whether poorly wrecked
Or rich and dear
These words mean more
Than one can see
Read poems and soar
And then you'll be
More open than
You'll ever know
Watch as you can
Evolve and grow
And then you will
Much happier be
As I am still
With poetry
