Poetry Can Save Us

Poets have been wandering for millions of years,

but when did they find the power to save us?

Poetry teaches us things unseen, about kindess and hate and what it means to love.

But how did the poets save us?

By swooping down to catch the civillian?

By defeating the villian who stole the treasures of the castle?

Not only did they do that through words, but they put thoughts in our heads,

they gave us knowledge to pursue, and mysteries to uncover.

Poets teach communities, big or small

how to be different, that it's okay to be sad, and to breathe.
