The Poetry of Existence

Music. Poetry with notes. But isn't poetry already

Musical

Lyrical

Spiritual

Beautiful

Beautiful. What is beauty?

Is it you?

Is it me?

Is it humanity?

Beauty is not in everything I see.

But when I read poetry

There is beauty

In pain

In sadness

In vanity

I guess I only know what poetry is to me

It is the hymns I would read through church

It is the rhyming games I played with my father

It is both the prayers of David and the cries of the oppressed

Sometimes it is Shakespeare

But those things are me too

I am not so vain as to believe I embody poetry

But maybe, just maybe, poetry embodies me
