Poetry: The Great Escape

her beauty came in hundreds

of sizes and shapes.

not just physically,

but in the heart of those who adored her.

she welcomed me

with open, motherly arms.

took me under her wing,

said to me "you will be okay."

she gave me

many siblings

with minds similar,

and kept us

in the world we preferred.

the world that we only saw when we close our windows

to reality.
