Poetry Has the Power to Change

Filled with all these emotions

Just swimming around inside my head

One day I picked up my pen

Released all my confusion and transgressions

Found a way out

A way to feel more alive

To spark a curiosity and new intensity

Filled with wild, raging passion inside of me

Releasing emotions in a way I never knew I could before

Yeah, I'd always known what poetry was

But I never thought much of it.

Not until I gave it a chance.

Not until I became one with it.

Not until I saw the help and unity it brought me.

Made me peaceful.

Helped me cope with my past.

Poetry saved me.

Without it,

Who knows how long I would last?
