Poetry has taught me...
Poetry has taught me how to have a voice,
that I am no longer my limitations but much more,
that I am not only a woman, but I am powerful and an unstoppable force.
Poetry has taught me to not be afraid to express what's held deep inside of me,
that each word I inscribe into my journal is cathartic for who I am.
Poetry has taught me how to understand the world around me,
how to understand that there is no difference between those who seek help from a therapist,
and those who seek therapy from a pen and paper.
Poetry has taught me how to understand the comfort in silence as others tell their stories.
That silence shows vulnerability filled with confidence.
That being loud may not mean that you're being understood.
Poetry has taught me, how to be comfortable being me.
