Poetry For Me

I just close my eyes
With pen in hand
Let my mind dance around the paper
Creating strings of words

My thoughts are comforting
Better than my reality
My poems can be anything I want
Something it’s hard for me to do

It all started with William Wordsworth
I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud
His words: “A poet could not but be gay,
in such a jocund company”
His descriptions and phrases
Wrap me in imagination

They made me want to create
So I did

I mainly keep my words to myself
Like my own little secret
Something for only me
A security blanket
An escape
