Poetry Is Me

Poetry is me

To be a poet and free

I always remember to be

Poetry is a beautiful idea

though often laconic

expresses deep emotions through simple words

often read through rhythms tympanic

Poetry is the lullaby my mother sang

its the songs that rang

in my mind all day

with messages that pay

a toll to the society they refuse to obey

Poetry is also how I came to understand

a friend lost in her mind

a man found in time

and a view of self-worth, thats less than a dime

Although I don't write often

Poetry is me

To be a poet and free

I always remember to be
