Poetry to Me

A human’s word

Is mightier than the sword

Whether it is used in speech

In the message you preach

Whether it is written

Or heard when you listen

Poetry has taught

What cannot be bought

To create

And appreciate

The art

In one’s heart

To spark change

And give a voice to the “strange”

It provides an outlet

For our fears and regrets

Our hopes and dreams

Beyond what the meaning seems

It shows our ideal

Or what is actually real

Whether you are white, black, green

Or anything in between

No matter who you love

Or believe in god(s) up above

Poetry is for all

All who hear its call

It is an art that heals

And gives you all the feels

So write your poem(s)

And don’t be afraid to show ‘em

It could create ripple

And its impact could triple

When you create

You have no idea what will generate

So make a choice

To use your powerful voice
