The Poetry in Me

Poetry the essence of life that flows out the mind and into words

Words that can have emotion, inspiration, and truth

The truth that comes from poetry allows for self-empowerment

The poetry in me is a voice and a power

The power to change the circumstances and struggles that comes with life

Writing poetry came from daddy issues

Writing mostly about “Why”

Why he did this and that

Losing myself in my words and releasing my emotions

But, now it is funny when life changes so does the poetry

I found a voice in my poetry

There is a power in my poetry…in my voice

I write about the future, dreams, and strength

Poetry gave me strength from my trials and tribulations

Poetry is light and truth the continues to guide me on my journey

I am not my skin; I am the POETRY that lives within
