Poetry means everything

Introduced to poetry as a little girl
Learning how to manipulate it in school
Teaching me to write, it was my escape
Poetry is a way to express myself
To relate to someone else's broken heart, disappointments, happiness
The feeling I get when reading one of my works
And seeing others inspired to do the same
Poetry lets me express the words unspoken
Leaves the lines open with endless possibilities
It challenges minds and creates curious thoughts
Brings beauty and emotion to my world
Poetry has brought me creativity with words
Words that were locked up, poetry,
Poetry found the key to let me be myself
It means more than I would've ever thought
Because poetry let me be heard.
