Poetry By Michael Jordan

Poetry

Extravert as a child

Introvert as an adult

When you grow as a child who the children call loud and annoying

You learn to be quiet and to yourself

I never expressed my feelings

Bottled up like the Mountain Dew I am drinking to write this poem.

Writing gave me an avenue to the light away from my seemingly inescapable darkness.

It was there for me.

When no one would answer my call

Or respond to a text.

It was there.

When I felt alone and depressed.

When I felt like I wasn’t understood.

When I felt hopeless about something.

It was there.

Poetry made me realize my potential.

I could build worlds with my imagination.

I could resolve all problems with my thoughts.

But most important I could help others feel better about themselves.

The poet that made me realize this was Marianne Williamson.

Her words about how we can free others from their fears because they see that we are free too.

Those words meant so much to me.

Not could I make myself feel like I was the best.

I could make others feel like that too.

And to make others love themselves with just your words..

Is truly a gift from God.
