Poetry: My First Love
I wrote my first poem when I was nine,
Super cliche, but in my young eyes it was divine,
I knew this was some type of passion,
As long as I gave it my all in every line.
Getting older my words became life,
Some cut deeper than a knife,
I knew I had a talent and a gift,
I grew closer to God and released this strife.
I realized that poetry is power,
The voices in my head got louder,
My conscious made poems without my help,
Education was the key and it started to devour.
Why was I exposed to this gift?
Should I use it to overpower or uplift?
The words are similar to an earthquake
Either good or bad it will still make a shift.
My brain starts jumping when I hear a poet
This was my first love, but you should already know it,
Without this I wouldn't realize the beauty of life,
For these words have meaning and by the words I will show it.
