Poetry, My Friend

Poetry guides me down

A path of silver and gold

It wakes me up by closing my eyes

It understands all the feelings inside

It helps me cry

Without tearing up

It drowns me in

But pulls me out

It speaks the words

I cannot utter

It paints a future

And wraps me into its frame

It pushes all my fears

Into oblivion

It tells me "It's okay"

Even when it's not okay

It holds me tight

When I need a hug

It tells me "It's okay"

Even when I'm not okay

It is my friend

The pen and the paper

That keep me intact

The friend that does not hurt

Not scream

Not shout

The friend that listens

To all I let out
