Poetry of Place

I see the monstrous waves hit the stable rocks

I hear the crash of the waves on the rock

I smell the sea salt in the cool air and the stink of fish

The feeling of rough rock as I brush my hand against it and the mist of the sea water

The feeling of the grainy sand in between my toes

The people sitting as they watch the waves come and go from the shore

The feeling of calm next to the ocean with a slight breeze

The playful wind whispering in your ear all the secrets of the ocean

The rocks with fuzzy algae on it as the waves hit and start to slowly erode

The seaweed dancing in the ocean with fish trying to find shelter

Hermit crabs scurrying to find a place to rest from the scurrying away from people

The seagulls trying to claim their territory on the rocks as people intrude

People who are posing for the perfect picture in a beautiful place

People wanting to capture the joyful laughs and kids chasing each other

Remembering the happy time with someone special

Grandma trying to get the right picture with everyone

Grandpa walking on the rocks with me as I try to find the perfect spot

The wind toussling my hair but feeling free and reckless

Remembering the happy moments with the people I love

The place where I can think and clear my mind of all my problems
