Poetry is Potent

Poetry is an art, not simply just a form of writing

a form of art, aside from photography, that I find enticing

When writing poetry, a Dr. Phil sprouts from within me,

I become all philosophical and become quite gutsy.

It makes me think about the world in a different fashion

and it’s something about it that has within me built a burning passion.

Poetry allows me to ponder ideas of self expression

a luxury that time and school don’t let me question.

I’ve come to a point in my life, where everything’s new and fresh

and poetry allows me to write about it in just a single sesh.

In this world of technology and speed

it’s a great feat to write concisely with ease.

Poetry forces me to stop and think about the words I write

because after all, few words can have much might.

To wrap this all up, poetry gives me power and frees my soul

from this world that, in which, there is nothing I can control.
