Polar Opposites

By Amanda G

Blood connects me to you, and you to me.

You are my dear brother, my lifelong friend.

Two halves from a whole, the same age are we,

But it’s something not all can comprehend.

Same mother, same father, same day of birth,

One home, one room, one day we’ve had to share.

But different minds and voices we’re worth,

And to group us together is not fair.

Different personalities and thoughts,

Opinions, wishes, and ambitions too.

It’s clear sometimes, by the way we have fought,

But that’s something we will always get through.

We’re siblings and twins – it’s not typical.

At least we know we’re individual.
