Police

Davon Hughes

June 15, 2014

Sophomore University of Missouri Columbia

Speak Your Mind: Police

To serve and protect me is your duty, but for some reason your the ones I fear most.

I buckle my seatbelt and I always drive safe, but every day for some reason you're always on my case.

You say it’s my dim headlight and I realize I’m at fault, but when the sun is in the sky and its not even needed, why are your light flashing bringing me to a halt.

I’m a Sophomore in college and I’m doing something with my life, when I’m stopped I feel it’s only because my skin is not white.

I wish you could see me for the man I am and the man I’ll be, instead of seeing me as a man who should only be walking on these streets.
