a police poem

i was walking home

flash was flicking in my direction

officer ask me to stop

excues me officer

what seems to be the problem

a call of disturbance was made at 4am this morning

apparently, someone saw a person with a gun

well officer, i just got to my block at 4am

how can that be? do the math officer

are you getting smart with me

of course i am because i'm educated

i'm not the usual suspect of a hispanic male

by the way, there is no such thing as hispanic

i was being search

made sure he didn't dig his dirty hands in my pocket

you know how cops love to slip something in there

and accuse you of false claims

arrest you so it looks good in their record

its not about justice, its about revenue

of course he found nothing

i ask officer you implementing stop and frisk policy

he got mad

he ask for my i.d.

i ask for his badge number and name

there were no exchange

he still got upset

i said good night

he said have a good evening

i said watch your step

he said you threatening me

i said absolutely not

watch your step officer

he left feeling stupid

i left still a taino black puerto rican from the bronx
