Politically Driven Poetry About Social Issues

Politically driven poetry about social issues,

is a genre that I made up

for a semester long writing course.

I studied a genre,

that didn't exist,

but somehow had plenty of examples.

As a woman,

I loved the poems about justice for women.

As a lesbian,

I loved the poems about the lgbt movement.

As a teenager,

I loved the poems about the difficulties of getting a job.

As a citizen,

I loved the poems about governmental corruption.

And I created a blog,

to dump my endless, repetitive, dull thoughts.

and soon found myself as a social justice blogger.

But I had too many causes,

and my poetry never rhymed

and it never rhymes

and I'm not really sure if it counts

as poetry.

And I'm trying to figure out

what drives my endless, repetitive, dull thoughts.

But I'm finding out that I can't pinpoint any one catalyst.

I have too many things going on.

And my life never made sense

and it never makes sense

and I'm not really sure what counts

as thoughts.
