Polluted heavens

There’s a water tower At the end of the lost path In there our dreams were sinking Along with the bittersweet memories We heard the sirens blaring Watched water seep through cracks It sprinkled softly onto our skin A smile bloomed on our faces An aroma of affection, filled the blank air Like two magnets, our lips slowly came together Every time I spot a water tower I remember that invigorating moment When our dreams glistened in the water Before love faded into polluted heavens We washed away like weak shells Losing direction, sparse waves on a shoreline Grew heavier like a burning flame Until more rain fell and we went our separate ways Now water streams down my flushed cheeks A gloomy puddle collecting under my feet I look upon it and see a visage of misery Fading as your careless face replaces mine There’s a water tower At the end of the dusty path In there floats a tragic reality
