The Pond

Dirty waters, light absorbed,

Lost within the gloom.

I come here in the cold dark hours,

I'll be with my loved ones soon.

Creepers on the sludgy surface

Float on lazily by.

And here I contemplate my choice

On shore, where others died.

Fish once swam in and out of shadows

But now there's nothing here.

This place was once a luscious forest,

The waters were once clear.

The waters, now a solemn brown

Brings aching to my heart.

I rise up slowly off the ground

And then begin to start.

I wade into the mu my depths,

Relax, and plunge straight down.

I join the souls of far off pasts

Who all came here to drown.
