PonyTale
little Eliza
dress of vines, in a pungent Barn
bare feet in a muck of bed
Pokey-sharp straw
curly golden-cheeked and blossompink-haired
Tentative
approaches Grandfather-horse—
Sage, twinkles and huffs all-knowing,
all prickle-bristles andchomp
mane of old corn silk, in a pungent Barn
hoofyfurred in a bed of muck
stinky-sharp straw—
carrotinhand
Neeeeheeeheeheee Horsey!
hungry hungry horsey
wiggle reach tongue for that carrotfly
a wet roll-olling pink carpet, 20 leagues
nibble nibble nibble
p e a l of laughter
cloudysteam snort, tiny-fingered nosepat
Friends!
melty cream cone for grandpappy
dino chick-tenders for grandpappy
shinysour apples for grandpappy
wild hand-plucked truffles (and daisies) for grandpappy
perfect white sugar cubes for grandpappy
for the Earl breakfast tea for grandpappy
and the poppyseed scones for grandpappy
Barbie cup o’ ketchup and Daddy’s ointment for grandpappy
to wash down the birthday mudCake for grandpappy
a whole watermelon’s rind for grandpappy
little Eliza, meloninhand
teases “Grand”pappy
but no taffy-stretched lips get belly food
Enuff!!! (huff huff)
rindandmommy-polished nails-in-one (special ends Thursday)
SMASHPINCHSCREAMOUCHCRUSHBleed

cries Eliza
first taste of betrayal
