Portraits

We make fun of students who constantly look in the mirror
But maybe if we just look closer, we'll see a little clearer

Let us relish in selfies

We call them them self-obsessed, we also call them vain
Belittling of my culture, my generation, my peers, puts me in pain

Let us be confident in ourselves

We put filters on for pictures, while an annoyed adult scours
But remember the people who posed in painted portraits for hours

Let us treat ourselves

They are afraid, that if we love ourselves they will have nothing to sell
But I know who I am, with or without my shell

Let me enjoy a picture of myself

I've never had before, a confidence such as this
The chance to do #NoFilter is a chance I don't want to miss
