Poseidon's Wrath

The oceans are dying.

Poseidon must be crying.

Despite all his power,

His waters get fouler and fouler.

We careless humans pollute the sea

And make Poseidon an enemy.

Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, drought.

Punishment will come without a doubt.

For all time

Poseidon has ruled the deep

And created laws for all to keep.

Then came man without a plan

Messing with things he didn’t understand.

Oil drills and oil spills

Flushing down our chemicals

Ships that make too much noise

When bringing kids their plastic toys

Fishhooks stuck in tiny jaws

Turtles killed by plastic straws

“Enough! No more!”

The humans have declared war.

From the deep, he will rise

And take pleasure in our cries.

For our crimes against the sea,

Poseidon will doom us for eternity.
