Possible Swan Song

“EDNOS” your doctor said.

Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified.

You have a bit of anorexia, with a dash of bulimia, along with a smidge of orthorexia.

Your flaws in nourishment cannot be clearly defined, so they are not as easily fixed.

Therapy is about all you can do, and that really blows because that isn’t always helpful.

What do you do when you reach out for help but can’t even say what's wrong?

Out of the entire lunch table, you’re the only one who doesn’t belong.

“Eat faster,” they say, and you swallow one big gulp, and stay strong.

You hold on to the fear of what will come next, every melody you sing will be your swan song.

You live each day with the thought that you’re hurting those you love by the goals you strive.

You keep trying to breathe air into your old souls' lungs, air is something often deprived.

You keep trying and bleeding and crying, but just you just can’t fall in love with being alive,

When you’re dead on the inside, and you can’t even survive.

But just because you’re starving doesn’t mean there isn’t fight left.

Take a stand.

Rise.

Because your story cannot go on unwritten.
