Post It Notes

Post it notes
Post it notes file in my head.
Like the notes in a book you want to remember.
The facts stashed away, one upon another, unyielding in their weight
Post it notes.
Post it notes hang, swept away
Filtered through as some sort of cliqued eulogy
Hoping not to loose all the meaning in that little piece of paper.
Post it notes
Post it notes ripped from their place
Unknowing of their fate but passive either way.
Being taken from that cellophane wrapper, scratched upon, and stuck on.
Post it notes
Post it notes crumpled in trash
Been given the underhand of their destiny
Landing face up but still drowning waist deep in the low grade waist basket
Post it notes
Post it notes in my mirror
They're not hanging but are a reflection, they're me
Because I'm that weighted book, hidden from judgement, trashed, discarded
Post it notes
Post it notes I've come to hate
They're forgotten, only remembered when needed
So tell me this: I want to be that post it note found with scratched nonsense
Will you find me and smile and unweight me from my burdens

Rjwillis

I go to an arts magnet school in Nashville, Tennessee, where I focus on visual arts. I am a health nut and constantly looking for the latest health journals and exercise related news. I was raised around my fathers business of selling plants and raising livestock, while having an English teacher as a mother. I volunteer every opportunity I am able, though in the past few year I've had to cut back because I needed extra time to study for the advance placement classes I've been taking. I am a member of Steve's Club Nashville, a nonprofit branch of CrossFit for teens, where I hope to get my level one certification soon. I always try to be happy in any surrounding because I know I am blessed to be there when other haven't been as lucky. I want to make a difference in the world, though I have no clue yet of how that will happen. I'd be happy being like the story of the starfish, where I make a difference just to a few.
