Potential

I don’t understand

how people say no when faced with opportunity,

why they spend so much energy not trying,

how they don't understand the importance of community,

why they live their life complying,

or how they are motivated by what others think

But most of all

how they make something mean nothing and nothing mean something,

how they let other people push them down,

why they are so focused on the cha ching,

why they only grace their face with a frown,

or why when they have troubles they take a drink.

But what I understand most of all

how it is never too late to try,

how setting high expectations results in high rewards,

why that if you work hard enough you can reach the sky,

why becoming your best self is the most important goal to work towards,

and that anyone's life can change in a blink.
