Potential
I fell in love with your potential
I see what you could be
And it pains me
To know that you have not a clue
Of what we might be
Together
A love so pure
A joy so free
A grace so inexhaustible
A security so comforting
Knowing that no matter the trials
You'll always be around
But the truth is
You're not
And I don't blame you
Your vision is skewed
But maybe
If only you could see yourself
You'd be able to see me too
If only I could open your eyes
But even if I had the chance
I don't think I'd take it
Because if you saw me for what I truly am
I fear you'd fall in love with my potential
And you'd pray to God that my eyes be opened
To see all that I could be
So that we might be together.
