Potting Soil

Potting soil, supplies the rose
With the nutrition she needs,
Gives her life.
Or so she thought.
Because in this gift, lives a parasite.
The infectious aphid
Hinders the rose’s ability to bloom
Her beauty wilts, beginning from
The inside, manifesting outwards.
Poison, spreading through her veins
Infecting the root, the stem, the petals.
The thorns, meant to guard her
Fall victim to the pain.
She let her guard down
And It destroyed her.
