PowderPuff

To Coach,

Once a year senior girls are allowed to act like boys

Gathered around the hallways, we scream and yell in anticipation for the game

Everyone looks at us as if we are crazy

Truth be told, they won’t understand the excitement until their senior year

History has proven this

Each girl lines up to get their jersey number after school

Remembering last year's score is our motivation

Weather is not considered when it comes to practice

Everyone understands that practice is rain or shine

A family is what the team has become

Remember when we all hated each other

Even worse, remember when we didn't know she was a senior

Soon it is game day

The school is decorated with balloons and streamers   l

Running down the halls, everyone at school screams

Once observers, now in unison, all students scream “Breakdown”

No one stops us

Given it is a tradition, teachers don’t expect us to go to class

The Pep Rally commences

Only freshman do not fit into the gymnasium

Greeting are said by the principal

Emotions are at an all time high

The girls perform their dance routine

Hoping to win, we all scream one  final “Breakdown”

Eventually, the bell rings

Running out of time, all the senior girls go get changed

Wallingford, a small town, is in a frenzy

Everyone wants a seat but tickets are sold out in minutes

Anticipation is in the air

Referees soon arrive

Eyes are the captains and the coin toss

As soon as the whistle is blown, players run as fast as they ever have

Fury and rage is what the other team portrays when the clock reads 00:00

All the hard work has paid off

My gosh, Lyman Hall has won the Samaha Bowl

In appreciation,

Lyman Hall Defensive Lineman

Your 2017 Samaha Bowl Winners
