The Power of I AM: The Power of Choice
The Power of I Am: The Power of Choice
By, Taylor Mesich
I AM strong because I can crush an ant, I am weak because the tides can drown me.
I AM rich because I live in a house, I am poor because it only has 4 rooms.
I AM liked because I have friends, I am not popular because I only have three.
I AM not as worthy as my brother because he got into a school on scholarship, I AM not as good as my friend because he got a 23 on his SAT.
I AM
I AM not
good
enough
So I declared this I AM. And this I AM I became. I became lesser than the people around me. Without a dream I became lame. I shrank, I became small. I slouched my back instead of standing tall. Instead of playing in the light, I lay here staring at the wall.
But now I know, I Am is a choice. How I use the I AM is how I choose to be. How I choose to use the I AM is who I am, how I chose the I AM is how I choose me.
So I AM done trying to define myself by what I AM good at or what I have accomplished. I AM done trying to put myself in a box of my past. I AM done trying to classify myself based on what material circumstances I may be put in because I know that is not truly what I AM.
So if you ask me what I am this is what I will tell you: What I AM is whole, perfect and complete.
I AM enough, no matter what I have done in my past.
I AM worthy no matter how many mistakes I have made, with consequences that still last.
I AM strong no matter how thin my arms may look.
I AM rich no matter how the condition of my possessions may look.
I AM made of more than flesh and bone.
I AM strong, because I declare that with this love for myself I am never alone.
Because I know what I AM made of.
I AM made of love, joy, peace and blessings.
And each day, I live out my life, knowing this is what I AM. This is what I always have been and what I always will be.
I
I AM
Love.
