The Power of Language

Words dance across the page Black ink, forming thoughts into symbols into ideas into change The most powerful of forces, yet often, thought so lowly of And taken advantage of It is second nature But nature itself is jealous For it can only mimic language As it looks on in greed To have what we have For ours dances off the mind Off the tongue Through the threads of air Into a listening ear Or, it takes a different route Into something that one cannot hear It spins itself onto a blank page Constructed from a creative hand Blending together into a series of figures Unknown to some While to others, can change a moment, a day, a life Does no one recognize this beauty? In a single word, a single signal Worlds can be changed Emotions invoked, lives turned to turmoil A beautiful, evanescent soul resurrected And a broken life allowed to live through the eyes of another As I allow the power of writing To dominate my mind A harmony, of true song Flow from hand and soul And through that, we are kissed With a simple mystery Of something greater More terrible and beautiful and powerful Than could ever be defined It is free, it is a fire Set to seek, destroy, capture Glide through a slow dance of love Our need for sociality allows it freely To dominate us With a life of its own A mystery, within each soul Set free only with the power of words
