The power of Magic
When I was a child, I wanted to behave like a child;
I could not.
I wanted to speak like a child, to be free like a child;
I could not.
Once innocence has been lost, it cannot be regained.
Once the mind is warped, it cannot be reframed.
I was a young girl and my innocence was lost
My mouth taped shut from uttering a shout,
My eyes dried out to stop the tears.
My voice? What voice?
A voice is something I did not know.
Every cry I was allowed came from the depths of my soul.
My faced never screwed in agony
But my soul was on fire, burning at its core.
It burned and burned
And burned and burned
Until one day, it found a silent voice that would be heard.
I found a magic wand filled with ink.
With every wave of that magic wand,
That fire began to burn itself out.
All those years of silent cries
All those years of burning eye
All those years, they disappeared.
I spilled them out with my magic wand.
I write because it is my magic
It gives me the voice that I never had
I take my wand and I run free
I am not a victim of my past;
I am not a tarnished soul waiting to burn out.
I simply wave my wand
And in the blink of an eye, I am alive again.
