The Power of my Pen

The ache of my hands

My innermost feelings bleeding onto the page

Like hot fiery lava

I am the volcano with the weight of the world inside my heart

Just seconds away from erupting

And the minute the point of my pen touches the paper

As soon as my finger taps the keyboard

The burning sensation runs through my vein and fingertips

I am a volcano standing tall and confident

I am a tourist destination

People climb all over me and take pictures

Because of how majestic and strong I appear

Until the climate changes and the atmosphere gets too heavy

And people start to run because I'm too much to handle

Now I'm reckless and fatal

But they won't say anything when the work of my hands

Is just as fatal and just as dangerous

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
