Power Outage

Life can change with a blink of an eye

Where the creation of family can split and divide

When you can no longer dictate my thoughts and feelings inside

And threaten to damage my heart, body, and mind.

Love can fail if you are not careful and aware

It should be that we are warm, compassionate, and fair

It took all this just to make you care

And all the mistakes you dare to compare.

I am at liberty, free, and unchained

You cannot shame me or blame me just the same

I have expired your control over my pain

Relinquished all anguish to God to my disdain.

There's always room for another chance

I must warn you in advance

I won't have a repeat of this song and dance.
