Power of Passion by Aleshia Guthrie

Poetry is more than just a pastime but a passion of mine it defines the  essence of my inner mystery.Poetry is an extension of the thoughts, feelings and emotions that are often bottled up inside of me waiting to be released. Secrets that reside deep within my soul that no one knows but me. Secrets that are deeper than the ocean floor within my soul . Floored by some of the greats that came before me that left a foot print in the sand Maya Angelou, James Baldwin and Langston Hughes have all transformed my life in one way or another. Poetry means a time to fuse all of the emotions that often take control of me the anger, fustration, love, the angst for something greater than the naked eye can see, it is the melting pot my very muse that drives.me to write poetry. Indeed, poetry for many has a variety of meanings but for me it means being who you are and allowing yourself the freedom to say what you feel without any apologies.
