The Power of a Penny

A penny lies on the ground
but this penny holds a story
a story of how two people meet.
A man and a woman,
how they overcome defeat
of being lonely
The man held this penny
while he wandered all around
nothing but a penny,
in the streets, not a sound.
He walked in through the door,
and his eyes had been put at ease
a beautiful woman in the store
his jaw fell to the floor
He felt a weakness in his knees.
He went up to her
with nothing but this penny
not even an ounce of pride
he said "hello"
tried to put more confidence in his stride,
but he could not.
For this woman
was way out of his league.
He looked her in her eyes and lost his breath
he could feel himself beginning to sweat
"I found a penny earlier today." he said
"It must be good luck.
because quite honestly,
when I saw you, I was awestruck."
The woman looked at him and
stared with a smile. "How about we go
and talk for a while?"
So then off they went,
they talked and they talked
and sooner rather than later,
down the isle they walked.
